Issues

Fiscal Accountability

It’s Time for Pickering to Get Back to Business.  City Councillors have to be mindful that there is only one taxpayer.   Far too often some Councillors have made decisions with no or little regard for this ideal.

Approachability and Availability

I commit to responding to all email and phone calls on a timely basis.  Councillors must understand that they are accountable to the public.

Direct Election of Regional Chair

I continue to support the Direct Election of the Regional Chair.  Pickering residents supported a referendum by an 88% margin in the last election.

Sirens (Emergency Alerting)

I support the installation of warnings sirens.  I do not however believe they should be located in residential areas within Ward 1.

 Support our sports

Pickering needs more sports infrastructure.  We require more City owned skating rinks,  we need more soccer fields, and finally hasn’t the time come for an indoor soccer facility here in Pickering so our kids don’t have to travel to Whitby, Clarington or Downsview.

Gridlock

We need to make public transit a real option for people. An option not only for a trip to the Go Station but for everyday use.

Proper Planning

We only get one chance to plan our downtown, our infill infrastructure, our new community of Seaton.  Let’s make it work.  Lets be bold, but lets get it right.  This should be a collaborative process rather than a guaranteed trip to the OMB, where nobody wins.
